At times, a child or young person's presentation can be particularly complex. This maybe due to past trauma and ACEs, difficult social dynamics, mental health difficulties, neurodiversity, risk profiles etc. As professionals it is our responsibilty to understand how all these factors impact our children and young people and work together- but this is not an easy task.
Formulation is as a way of helping other’s understand a young person’s current difficulties, so that plans and goals can be set to work on. A formulation is not used to provide definitive answers to a person’s difficulties, but is used to help young people and professionals to ask key questions to understand the young person and their situation better.
We believe, that sometimes, it helps to have an independent practitioner to be able to pull together and hold consultations with a professional network to structure thinking and help create a shared understanding of a young person's formulation by looking at all these factors at play for a young person.
All the work you do as professionals to support children and young people is of great importance. It can also take an emotional and physical toll as we give so much of ourselves to it.
This is why clinical supervision is key in providing a safe and confidential space in order to reflect, contain and where needed, constructively challenge our practice.
We offer both group and individual supervision. We have worked with children's social workers, mental health professionals, youth justice and others in both public and private sectors to offer clinical supervision support.
